Elijah Smith grew up in Joaquin, Texas. Raised on a working farm in Joaquin, Elijah places steadfast determination at the forefront of everything he does. At sixteen, he began his educational journey as a first-generation college student at Panola College, driven by a passion for providing legal representation to Texas’ underserved populations. During his time at Panola and then at the University of Houston – Clear Lake, Elijah earned honors in leadership and academic excellence while maintaining a lifelong commitment to volunteering in the East Texas community.
As a student at South Texas College of Law Houston, Elijah received the Dean’s Merit Scholarship and served as a student attorney, representing indigent clients seeking guardianship of their incapacitated family members. Being the younger brother of two special needs siblings, Elijah deeply understands the gravity of these situations, which has only strengthened his dedication to helping underrepresented communities that often face significant challenges.
In his personal life, Elijah values time spent with his family on their farm and enjoys working cattle with his father. He is an avid concertgoer, outdoor enthusiast, and a frequent visitor to Texas State Parks with his high school sweetheart. At Ferguson, Elijah remains committed to providing zealous representation to the Southeast Texas community.
