Eric Buckner joined Katz, Kantor, Stonestreet & Buckner (formerly Katz, Kantor & Perkins, PLLC) in 2003 after graduating from the West Virginia University College of Law. He currently serves as the firm’s managing partner. Since graduating from law school, Eric has been the voice for victims injured by the negligence and wrongful conduct of others. Eric has sought justice for seriously injured clients and their families throughout Mercer, McDowell, Summers, Raleigh, Wyoming and Kanawha Counties.
Besides his many credentials listed below, he was influenced early in life by the justice system, as his father, Harold Buckner, served Mercer County as Magistrate and Sheriff.
In 2005, Eric married his wife, Sonya Anderson Buckner, and they extended their family with the birth of a beautiful daughter in 2007. His family, faith, love of golf and WVU football keep him busy when outside the office. Eric is a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church and Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce.
Eric excels in representing the citizens of southern West Virginia and works tirelessly to help them receive the justice they deserve. Education
Eric attended West Virginia University graduating magna cum laude in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Political Science. While at WVU, he was the recipient of numerous Presidential Awards for Excellence in Scholarship, a member of the Psy Chi National Honor Society, Golden Key International Honor Society and was one of twelve students in the State of West Virginia to be selected into the Frazier-Singleton Legislative Internship program.
After graduating from WVU, Eric attended the West Virginia University College of Law. In law school, Eric received the Ned and June Shott Law scholarship and a CALI award in Contracts II—an Excellence for the Future Award—by obtaining the top grade in his class. Upon graduating from WVU College of Law in 2003, Eric was ranked within the top 25 percent of his class.
Eric is a member of the West Virginia State Bar and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. Eric was additionally admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of Virginia on January 10, 2019 and is licensed to practice throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, American Association for Justice Traumatic Brain Injury and Motor Liability Litigation Group, and the West Virginia Association for Justice.
