John M. Jefcoat is a lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. Born in Lafayette in 1964, John grew up in the surrounding area, which is where he chose to make his home. He graduated from Acadiana High School in 1982. After high school, he attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, and then earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration in 1986 from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
After graduating, John worked in private business until 1992, when he decided to pursue a career in law. He enrolled in Southern University Law Center, graduating magna cum laude in 1995.
In 1996, John co-founded the personal injury law firm Galloway Jefcoat, which focuses on meeting the needs of injured individuals throughout Louisiana. The firm serves clients in Lafayette, Calcasieu Parish, Sulphur, and Lake Charles, and has handled claims nationwide. With his extensive experience as a personal injury attorney, John has represented clients from as far as Alaska to the British Virgin Islands.
