Attorney J. Mitchell Hastings was raised in Oneonta, Alabama. A lifelong musician, Mitchell attended Belmont University in Nashville where he studied Political Science and Music Business. Mitchell intended on becoming a professional musician until he clerked at several law firms and gained a wide variety of exposure to the legal world. During that time, he was inspired to pursue a legal education. Mitchell attended University of Alabama School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate.
Experience
As a young attorney, Mitchell gained experience by representing homeowners against mortgage servicers. He also participated in large-scale environmental litigation and complex commercial litigation on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants.
Later Mitchell began working in a defense practice where he handled cases involving general defense, insurance defense, commercial litigation, and medical malpractice.
Today Mitchell proudly represents plaintiffs, whether they be individuals or businesses, in complex commercial litigation, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, and products liability litigation.
Outside of his legal practice, Mitchell enjoys spending time with his wife, Megan Hastings, and trying to keep up with their two young sons.
Mitchell is licensed to practice law in Alabama, and all Federal District Courts in Alabama.
