M. Michelle Carreras is an associate with The Lanier Law Firm, where she works on commercial litigation cases, with an emphasis on bankruptcy-related litigation.
Prior to joining The Lanier Law Firm, Ms. Carreras spent six years as an associate at a prominent Texas defense firm, where her efforts were focused primarily on bankruptcy-related litigation and environmental litigation matters. She has also previously represented debtors, secured lenders, creditor committees and trustees in bankruptcy reorganization proceedings. She was a key member of the firm's Pinnacle bellwether trial team that won a $1 billion combined jury verdict and a $502 million jury verdict in 2016.
Ms. Carreras earned her undergraduate degrees in English and Anthropology from Rice University in 2000. She then earned her law degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 2003.
Ms. Carreras is licensed to practice law in Texas and in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas. She is also a member of the State Bar of Texas District 4-F Grievance Committee, where she presides over disciplinary proceedings brought against attorneys in Harris County.
Ms. Carreras lives in Houston, with her husband, and enjoys traveling, cooking, reading and art.
