Prior to joining Payne Mitchell Ramsey, Mac Phelps spent years defending some of the world’s largest insurance carriers on a wide variety of personal injury matters while working for Dallas-based business law firms. It was during this time that he found a passion for representing those who are injured, instead of defending those who negligently harmed others. He now uses his familiarity with the inner workings of insurance companies to better help his clients.
Mac received his J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law. After his first year of law school, Mac was selected to be an extern to Chief Justice Nathan Hecht of the Supreme Court of Texas. Mac also served as a Senior Articles Editor for the SMU Science and Technology Law Review and was a regional finalist in the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Student Trial Advocacy Competition. After competing in mock trial, Mac focused as much of his coursework as he could on trial advocacy, which led him down the path to becoming the attorney he is today.
Outside of the office, Mac enjoys working out, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife and their Alaskan Malamute, Archimedes.
