Kinston,

I am a native of Sampson County, and I have lived and practiced in Kinston for over 25 years. I graduated from North Carolina State University in 1996 and from The Cumberland School of Law in 2000. I began my career in Clinton, North Carolina, as an Assistant District Attorney. Soon after that, I went into private practice with the firm White & Allen, P.A., where I focused primarily on state and federal criminal defense as well as general civil litigation. I was a partner in the firm and left in 2015 to go back into public service as an Assistant District Attorney in Kinston. I prosecuted mainly serious felony offenses and homicides. I have been back in private practice, pursuing my true passion, criminal defense, since 2024.

Since I began my career in 2000, I have been fortunate to reach several milestones in the practice of law. I have served as president of both the Lenoir County Bar Association and the Eighth (now Ninth) Judicial District Bar Association. I have served in leadership positions in the Criminal Sections of both the North Carolina Bar Association and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. While in private practice, I have been recognized in the "Super Lawyers" magazine publication as a top criminal defense lawyer in North Carolina. Also, I have been recognized as a "Top 100" Trial Lawyer in North Carolina. Currently, I am proud to serve as a State Bar Councilor with the North Carolina State Bar, representing the Ninth Judicial District.
