Michael Terence Ferguson was born in Saint Louis and raised in South Florida by his parents, Norine and Patrick Ferguson, who raised three lawyers—Michael, his sister Nonie, and his brother Patrick. Michael earned his law degree magna cum laude from Nova Southeastern University, where he received the CALI Book Award for Legal Research and Writing and served as an advocate on the Moot Court Honor Society.

After law school, Michael chose to serve his country as an active-duty Air Force Judge Advocate. During his time in service, then “Captain Ferg” specialized in criminal jury trials as both a prosecutor and criminal defense counsel. As an Assistant Judge Advocate stationed in Europe, Michael advised on international law and military operations and led hundreds of felony-level criminal investigations. He quickly became known for his success in the courtroom as a prosecutor, earning the Litigation Excellence Award for securing convictions in numerous high-profile cases.

He later served as an Area Defense Counsel in Turkey, where he defended the constitutional rights of service members stationed across Europe and the Middle East who were accused of committing crimes. During his time as a defense counsel, he was recognized as one of the Air Force’s top Defense attorneys, earning a 100% acquittal rate in litigated trials.

Michael was later competitively selected as one of the youngest officers in Air Force history to serve as a Special Trial Counsel—an elite team of certified special victims prosecutors responsible for handling the most serious violent offenses in the military justice system. In that role, he traveled the world prosecuting cases to seek justice for victims and was repeatedly recognized as Prosecutor of the Quarter for outstanding trial performance.

After completing his military service, Michael returned home to South Florida to continue seeking justice for victims. Mike brings a wealth of trial experience to the firm and focuses his practice on representing individuals and families in personal injury and wrongful death cases. He brings the same tenacity, preparation, and passion for trial advocacy that defined his military career into every courtroom fight on behalf of his clients.

Outside the courtroom, Michael enjoys volunteering for veteran and environmental advocacy groups and spending time with his dog, Finnegan Fitzgerald Ferguson.
