
Ryan Payne is a distinguished attorney recognized for his dedication, skill, and unwavering commitment to justice. A native of Heath Springs, South Carolina, Ryan is proud to serve his community and the surrounding region through his law practice based in his hometown.
Ryan is a graduate of Clemson University and the University of South Carolina School of Law. After graduating, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Brian Gibbons, where he gained valuable insight into the judicial process and strengthened his foundation as a legal advocate. Following his clerkship, Ryan spent six years as an Assistant Public Defender in Lancaster County, gaining extensive courtroom experience and developing a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals navigating the criminal justice system. These formative roles helped shape his career as a principled, client-focused advocate.
Although widely known for his work in criminal defense, Ryan also maintains a robust civil and family law practice. His diverse experience allows him to skillfully guide clients through complex legal matters ranging from criminal charges to domestic disputes and personal injury.
Known for his strategic approach, meticulous preparation, and steadfast defense of his clients’ rights, Ryan has built a practice grounded in integrity and compassion. In addition to his legal practice, Ryan is an adjunct professor of criminal justice at USC Lancaster, where he enjoys mentoring and educating the next generation of legal professionals. He lives in Lancaster with his wife, Alona, and their dog, Shadow.
