Michael G. Polito is a partner in the firm which he founded with Derek Rodstrom. Michael is a native Clevelander and attended St. Ignatius High School. His undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Detroit, where he was admitted to the Honors Program and studied English and Philosophy, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1987. Michael received a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 1990. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio and the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit.
Michael is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and has served as a delegate to the Eighth Judicial Conference. Also, he is past president of the Fairview Park Chamber of Commerce. For many years, he has coached Little League Baseball. Additionally, Michael has acted as mentor to Cleveland public high school students through the Rotsky Foundation for Mentors, and as a mentor to young lawyers through the Supreme Court of Ohio's Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program. Michael is an avid runner. He lives in Lakewood with his wife and five children.
Michael's practice focuses on litigation. He has practiced law in Ohio since 1991 in a variety of areas including personal injury, criminal, domestic relations and representing small corporations. Michael has focused on criminal defense litigation of felonies and misdemeanors throughout Ohio, including a certification to represent mentally ill offenders. He has successfully defended many corporations while litigating class action law suits involving claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
In the last several years, Michael has focused on representing victims of serious personal injuries. He takes a special interest in those persons least able to defend themselves: children and the elderly. Many of his cases have involved child victims of sexual abuse by teachers or clergy, and elderly patients who have endured nursing home negligence. Michael also represents other victims of serious personal injuries such as motor vehicle collisions, slip and fall injuries, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle accidents, and victims of various forms of medical malpractice, including victims of dental malpractice.
