The Personal Story Years ago, corporate negligence nearly cost me my life. I know what it feels like to lie in a hospital bed wondering whether anyone will be held accountable. I know the fear of mounting medical bills. I know the frustration of being treated like a file number instead of a human being. That experience changed the entire direction of my life. It taught me something no law school class ever could: when you have been hurt by someone else's carelessness, what you need most is someone who will stand with you, fight for you, and refuse to back down. That is exactly what I do. Every single case. Who I Am I am the founding attorney of Michelle Acosta Law Firm, PLLC, a Houston-based personal injury practice built on one simple promise: you will never be treated like just another case. Before launching my own firm, I served as General Counsel for a multi-state organization overseeing operations across roughly 1,800 employees. That experience gave me a front-row seat to how large corporations think, how they manage risk, and how they try to minimize liability. I use that knowledge now to hold those same kinds of organizations accountable when their negligence hurts people. Today, my practice is focused entirely on personal injury: motor vehicle accidents, commercial trucking collisions, premises liability, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death. I prepare every case as if it is going to trial, because that level of preparation is what produces results, whether we resolve your case at the negotiating table or in front of a jury. What Sets Me Apart I have been where you are. My own experience with serious injury is the foundation of everything I do. It is not something I read about in a textbook. It is something I lived through. That is why I return every phone call, answer every question, and treat every client like family. I am trained to tell your story. I am a graduate of the Gerry Spence Method, one of the most respected trial advocacy programs in the country. It teaches lawyers to connect with jurors on a human level, to tell the truth powerfully, and to fight without fear. That training shapes how I prepare every case and how I present your story when it matters most. I know how the other side operates. My years as General Counsel mean I understand corporate defense strategy from the inside. I know the tactics insurance companies and their lawyers use, and I know how to dismantle them. I have a proven track record. I have helped secure a $56 million jury verdict in Harris County and have achieved significant recoveries for clients throughout Texas. My results have earned recognition from Super Lawyers Rising Stars (2025, 2026), the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 in Civil Litigation (2024, 2025, 2026), the National Trial Lawyers Top 25 Motor Vehicle Trial Lawyers in Texas, and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. My Background I grew up in a diplomatic family, spending 13 formative years living abroad while my parents served on U.S. diplomatic missions across Latin America and Southeast Asia. That upbringing gave me fluency in Spanish and a deep understanding of diverse cultures, perspectives, and communication styles. For my clients, this means more than just language access. It means I understand the cultural context behind your concerns. I do not just translate words. I listen, I understand, and I advocate in a way that respects who you are and where you come from. Se habla español. Estamos aquí para usted. Leadership and Community I believe that being a good lawyer means more than winning cases. It means investing in the profession and the community. I currently serve as Vice President of Communications and Co-Chair of Community Outreach for the Houston Trial Lawyers Association. Previously, I chaired the HTLA Women's Caucus (2024, 2025), where I worked to support and mentor women in trial law. I am a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a member of the Texas Bar College, and I serve on the Board of Advocates of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. I am also a board member of the Hispanic Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Texas. These roles reflect my commitment to strengthening the justice system and ensuring that people who need a voice always have one.
