Mr. Willey was born on September 11, 1949. He and his wife, Lorna, have three children, Ezra, Josiah and Monica and three grandchildren. Mr. & Mrs. Willey reside in Bangor, Maine. Mr. Willey is active in numerous community organizations. He is a member of the Bangor Knights of Columbus where he has served as advocate as well as Grand Knight, and he attends St. Mary’s Parish in Bangor. Mr. Willey is a lifelong Maine resident. Mr. Willey is active in many sports including outdoor recreation, golf and he also holds a Black Belt in Japanese (Shotokan) Karate.
He obtained both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Economics and Community Development from the University of Maine, Orono. Mr. Willey served as a graduate teaching assistant and interned at EMDC, while completing his master’s degree. He obtained a Juris Doctorate Degree, Cum Laude, from Suffolk University Law School. Mr. Willey graduated first in his sectional class of eighty-three. While at Suffolk, he served as the Associate Editor, Suffolk University Law Review.
Mr. Willey also participated in the prestigious Senior Executive in State & Local Government Program (S&L), Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government.
Mr. Willey has been practicing law since 1976, concentrating in civil and criminal litigation. He is a member of the Maine Bar Association, American Bar Association, Maine Trial Lawyers Association, American Association of Justice, Defense Research Institute, Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and local county bar organizations. He has served as President of the Penobscot County Bar Association in 1997. He is a member of the Maine Medico-Legal Society. Mr. Willey is also a lecturer and writer on various legal topics. Mr. Willey is a member of MADRAP and actively works as a mediator for Court and private matters. He is a court rostered Guardian ad Litem.
Mr. Willey is a practicing attorney and senior partner in the law firm of WILLEY LAW OFFICES. He is also currently a member of all Maine State and Maine Federal Courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has served as an Appeals Court Judge for the Penobscot Tribal Court since approximately 1980, reappointed in 1995, and again reappointed in 2011.
Mr. Willey is also Board Certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA). He is also listed in New England Super Lawyers Magazine in 2008 and 2011 and has been found in the Federal Trial Lawyers Association, Top 100 Trial Lawyers listing. He has also served as an Adjunct Instructor, Husson University, in both Family Law and Torts. Mr. Willey is also an accredited Veteran’s Advocate/Attorney
