Nate was born in Iowa City, Iowa on September 25, 1990. Less than a year later, Nate moved to Des Moines with his parents so his father could begin his first year at Drake Law School. Over the next three years, Nate’s mother worked two jobs to make ends meet so Nate’s father could focus on school. After his father graduated, Nate’s family moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa where Nate and his two younger brothers went to high school.
Growing up, Nate spent the majority of his time with his brothers and a core group of close friends – all of whom remain in touch to this day. Nate has always loved to listen to and share stories with others; some of his best memories include listening to his father’s “war stories” from his days as a public defender. These stories first inspired Nate to become a trial lawyer.
In law school, Nate was a founding member and officer of Drake’s student chapter of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), an organization that brought some of the country’s most successful plaintiff’s trial lawyers to Drake for seminars and other student events. After graduating, Nate accepted a position at Spaulding & Shaull, the same place he worked as a law clerk during school.
Nate is privileged to have the honor of protecting and advocating for the rights of injured people all over Iowa. His practice is dedicated to fighting on behalf of ordinary Iowans, many of whom have been injured through no fault of their own. He believes there is no better job in the world.
In his free time, Nate enjoys spending time with his wife and infant son, reading about history and politics – past presidents especially, going to plays and musicals at the Des Moines Performing Arts Center, and watching sports.
