Mrs. Gilliland began her legal career at a large firm in Alabama where she handled mass torts, complex civil litigation, and represented multiple states in Medicaid fraud litigation through their respective attorneys general offices. Having grown up in Pensacola, Mrs. Gilliland happily returned home and joined our firm in 2017. Her practice with us focuses on mass tort litigation. Prior to attending law school, Mrs. Gilliland served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps, training as a celestial navigator. After being honorably discharged at the completion of her commitment, Rebecca attended law school, graduating fourth in her class with high honors from Faulkner University's Thomas Goode Jones School of law. While attending law school, she also received several advocacy awards, including Best Oral Advocate, Best Petitioner Brief, National Products Liability Champion, and the American College of Trial Lawyers Medal for Excellence in Advocacy. Mrs. Gilliland also served on the editorial board of the law review. Mrs. Gilliland's previous mass torts litigations include Hormone Replacement Therapy, Actos, GranuFlo, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Antitrust litigation. She has also worked on behalf of state attorneys general in Alaska, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Utah, among others. Mrs. Gilliland has an interest in insurance law litigation and has previously handled both ERISA and non-ERISA claims, including bad faith litigation against insurance companies. She is currently pursuing an L.L.M. with a specialization in Insurance Law from the University Of Connecticut School Of Law with an expected graduation in May 2018. Mrs. Gilliland and her husband are actively involved in First Baptist Church of Pensacola and reside, along with their four children, in Pace. She is currently admitted to practice law before all Alabama State courts, the Middle and Northern district courts of Alabama, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Third and Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
