Rob Corney is a personal injury litigation attorney in The Derrick Law Firm’s Mount Pleasant, South Carolina office. He focuses his practice exclusively on the representation of individuals who have suffered grievous injury and harm due to the wrongful and negligent conduct of another. Rob has extensive experience litigating various high-stakes civil actions including tort and personal injury, premises liability, products liability, nursing home neglect and abuse, professional negligence, medical malpractice, and toxic and mass tort matters. After spending over 8 years of his career defending insurance companies, Rob understands the complexities of how insurance companies value claims and he uses that knowledge to obtain the maximum recovery for his clients. Rob is an experienced litigator with a track record of success trying cases to juries throughout the state and federal courts of South Carolina.
Rob was raised in Mount Pleasant where he attended and graduated from Wando High School alongside his now wife. Growing up as the fifth of eight children, Rob learned from an early age how to effectively present and resolve disagreements. It was that upbringing and his desire to help others in their darkest times that drove Rob to attend law school after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining The Derrick Law Firm, Rob was a partner at a very well-respected insurance defense firm and served as an Assistant Attorney General for the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office. Rob’s personal background, litigation and trial experience, and compassion for the wrongfully injured provide Rob with a unique perspective and skillset that allow him to be a zealous and persuasive advocate for his clients.
Outside of the office, Rob cherishes spending time with his wife and 3 young daughters at the beach and on the boat along the waterways of coastal South Carolina. He is a former Board Member of PlaySafe, a South Carolina non-profit organization providing full-time certified athletic trainers to public schools throughout South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. He was named to Greenville Business Magazine's Best & Brightest 35 and Under in 2018 and remains highly involved in the local community.
