Robert began practicing law in 1985 working as a litigation associate for a large law firm. Since 1994, working at smaller firms, he has successfully represented plaintiffs in New York state and federal courts.
Robert has handled many different types of lawsuits that settled or resulted in jury verdicts: wrongful death; construction site accidents; mesothelioma from asbestos exposure; defective drugs and products; pedestrian knockdowns by motor vehicles; falls caused by hazardous and dangerous property conditions; defamation; international air travel injuries (Montreal Convention); medical malpractice; false arrest, excessive use of force and other civil rights violations; and malicious prosecution.
Robert’s highest jury verdict, $15 million ($10M compensation, $5M punitive damages), was awarded by a federal court jury against foreign international airline for its role in illegally flying an American child out of the country in violation of a court custody order.
Robert was honored to be accepted into The National Trial Lawyers, Top 100 Trial Lawyers, New York City for the first time in 2012. He became a New York Metro SuperLawyer, first in 2006 for General Litigation and then for 15 consecutive years - 2009 through 2024 - as a Plaintiff’s Personal Injury lawyer. For 16 years, Robert was on the volunteer mediation panel, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He successfully mediated cases involving negligence, insurance coverage, copyright infringement, breach of commercial and employment contracts, and workplace discrimination.
Robert graduated with a BA in history from Columbia College, where he was on the varsity swimming team, and a Master of International Affairs from the Columbia School of International Affairs. He received his Juris Doctor in 1985 from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University, where he was Articles Editor, Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal and a Belkin Scholar. Robert was a summer law clerk for the Hon. H. Lee Sarokin, U.S. District Court of New Jersey.
Robert is admitted to practice law in New York and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and New Jersey, the U.S. Appeals Courts for the Second and Third Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. He is member of the New York City Bar Association.
