George School of Law in 2001. She is licensed to practice law in both Georgia and South Carolina. Mrs. Jeffords believes in helping her clients and their families to find solutions to their problems within the judicial system by way of fierce and caring advocacy. She was a federal judicial law clerk for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, where she handled complex civil litigation cases and those involving employment discrimination. She returned to Augusta and practiced in the Fulcher Hagler Law Firm where she worked in litigation, concentrating on railroad defense, insurance defense, and employment and labor law. She has tried both civil and criminal cases, gaining most of her trial experience while working as a public defender in the Augusta Judicial Circuit.
Mrs. Jeffords has successfully argued before the Supreme Court of Georgia and was named one of the Top Young Attorneys in Georgia by Georgia Super Lawyers Magazine in 2011. She was named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers in 2012. She was instrumental in developing the process for the Augusta Judicial Circuit Drug Court program and is the defense lawyer for Drug Court. In 2013, she received the State Hero Award from the Judicial Council and Administrative Office of the Courts for outstanding service to the accountability courts of Georgia. In 2015, she was named one of the Top 100 National Black Lawyers.
She is a Fellow with the State Bar of Georgia. She is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyer's Association, National Trial Lawyers, Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Augusta Bar Association, Family Law Section of the Augusta Bar Association, Augusta Conference of African American Attorneys (ACAAA)), Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA), Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, National Association of Drug Court Professionals, and the South Carolina Bar Association. She is a member of the Augusta Chapter of the Links, Inc., Platinum Minds and the Kiwanis Club.
Mrs. Tanya Jeffords is a Christian. She is married to William R. Jeffords, III. They have two children and run the non-profit corporation Dream Builders of America's Youth Inc. www.dreambuildersinc.org.
