For 30 years, Terry Heady has represented people who were seriously injured and employees who were fired, harassed, or discriminated against. He is a trial lawyer. That distinction matters more than most people realize: insurance adjusters and employers negotiate differently when they know the lawyer on the other side has taken cases to verdict and is prepared to do it again. Mr. Heady has tried jury cases in Cook, Kane, Kendall, DuPage, Winnebago, and Will counties, and litigates throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. He is a member of the federal trial bar for the Northern District of Illinois and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. One hundred percent of his practice is devoted to litigation.
PERSONAL INJURY
Mr. Heady handles serious injury and death cases: auto and trucking collisions, medical malpractice, nursing home neglect, product liability, and wrongful death. These cases are investigated early, because the evidence that decides them — surveillance video, vehicle data, staffing records, the scene itself — does not stay available for long. He has obtained verdicts and settlements in cases where the insurer's pre-trial offer was a small fraction of the eventual recovery.
EMPLOYMENT LAW
Mr. Heady represents employees who have been wrongfully terminated. He handles discrimination claims based on race, sex, age, disability, pregnancy, and sexual orientation, along with sexual harassment, retaliation, and retaliatory discharge cases. He litigates these matters in federal court and before the Illinois Human Rights Commission, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
