William Brelsford was admitted to the California Bar in 1999 and began his career specializing in medical malpractice, breach of contract and personal injury cases. In 2001, Bill was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada and expanded his practice to Nevada. From 2003 to 2006 Bill spent much of his time successfully representing many victims against a religious organization for childhood sexual abuse.
He joined the firm in 2006 and was named partner in 2009. In 2018 the firm was proud to select him to be a part of a new beginning and new name, Brelsford Androvich & White.
Today Bill focuses his practice on personal injury cases representing victims and injured persons in medical malpractice, auto injuries, child molestation, sexual abuse, products liability, slip and falls (premises liability), and medical device defects. Bill loves litigation and has been very successful taking cases through trial. His desire is to try as many cases as he can.
Bill is a member in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in recognition of his courtroom skill and ethical handling of cases arising from auto accidents, premises liability, sexual misconduct and medical malpractice. The National Trial Lawyers also named him a Top 40 Under 40, an invitation-only professional association comprised of top, young trial attorneys throughout the United States. He is listed as one of “America’s Top 100” attorneys. He is also The National Trial Lawyers “Top 100 Trial Lawyers.” In 2015, he was inducted as “Fellow” in The International Society of Barristers.
Brelsford is certified Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys with special competence in medical professional liability.
Brelsford is also rated by Martindale-Hubbell as AV Preeminent, the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards. The AV preeminent rating is the pinnacle of professional excellence earned through a strenuous Peer Review Rating process.
Super Lawyers, an organization of attorneys who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement, honored Brelsford as a Rising Star. In California, a Rising Star Super Lawyer represents the top 2.5 percent of attorneys from more than 70 practice areas who are 40 years old and younger or who have been in practice ten years or less. Since turning 40, he has been annually recognized as a Super Lawyer.
Growing up Bill developed a love for competition and excelled in sports. In college he played baseball at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo for 2 years transferring to University of California at Davis in 1993. He became a “closer” (relief pitcher) and earned the respect of his teammates and coaches for his many “saves” tying the record for “Most Saves” in a single season. He was a member of the 1993-1994 men’s baseball team that posted the most wins by any baseball team in UC Davis history. The entire team was recently admitted into the UC Davis Hall of Fame.
In the 1994-1995 season, the UC Davis men’s baseball team competed for the Division II National Championship. During the Western Regional Championship game, Bill came in from the bullpen for the final 2 innings to win the Championship game launching the team to its first World Series birth in UC Davis History. Bill says “being on the mound in the 9th inning of that game and celebrating on that mound was the fourth best day” of his life. His best 3 days were when his sons, Cole and Cooper, were born and the day Jennifer married him.
Bill graduated from UC Davis with a BA in Economics and 2 minors (rhetoric & communications and philosophy). He attended McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento from 1996 to 1999.
Playing outdoor sports his entire life, Bill experienced a “culture shock” in law school. By the end of his first year and struggling to find interest in the law, Bill competed in the First Year Mock Trial Competition. He won the McGeorge First Year Mock Trial Competition. He also found his place in law: Trial Practice.
As in baseball, Bill enjoyed success as a law student in the McGeorge Trial Advocacy Program, competing on behalf of the school in ATLA, TYLA and other nationally recognized competitions. He earned the Consumer Attorneys of Sacramento “First Honors” Award during his third year of law school and was recognized as the top trial advocacy student of his class.
Bill was selected as a National Member of The Order of Barristers for exhibiting excellence and attaining high honors in the “Art of Courtroom Advocacy.” He was selected by ABOTA as the McGeorge “Student Trial Advocate of the Year” in 1999. In 2000, The International Academy of Trial Lawyers commended Bill for his distinguished achievements in the art and science of advocacy.
When Bill is not litigating, he can be found every morning at the gym weightlifting. Bill has taught and coached law students at McGeorge in the art of trial advocacy and has taken teams to regional and national competitions. He is an active family man and enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer, and his sons Cole and Cooper. He also plays guitar…poorly.
