Christopher Phipps is an attorney in the Bankruptcy Department for the Asbestos and Toxic Exposure group at The Lanier Law Firm's Houston office.
Prior to joining The Lanier Law Firm, Chris worked with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the Air Enforcement Division of the Office of Civil Enforcement in Washington, D.C. There, he frequently conducted regulatory research to draft enforcement decisions and participated in settlement negotiations with various defendants. This administrative and regulatory experience has allowed Chris to master and navigate the Bankruptcy Code for optimal results. It also shaped him into one of the firm's most thoughtful advocates, capable of constructing resourceful and innovative arguments on behalf of his clients.
Chris earned his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law in Lansing, Michigan, in 2012. During his time at Michigan State, he was a MSU Merit Scholar, a member of the Dean's List, and part of the MSU Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Team. He also interned for MSU Technologies, the university’s patenting and licensing arm, where he conducted prior art searches and formulated patentability and marketing opinions for technologies developed by MSU employees.
Mr. Phipps was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2014. He is a member of both the State Bar of Texas and the National Bar Association.
He lives in Houston with his wife, Elisha, and enjoys barbecuing, volunteering, and often loses his voice from cheering on the Houston Texans.
