
AJ Holloway was born and raised in the Myrtle Beach area. He attended Socastee High School, where he earned an International Baccalaureate Diploma. He then attended Clemson University, graduating magna cum laude. AJ went on to earn his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Bar and actively participated in community service and mentoring organizations. Throughout his legal career, he has remained committed to giving back to his community, including participating in the Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge.
AJ began his legal career with the defense firm Gallivan, White & Boyd in Columbia, South Carolina. After several years of representing large corporations, he chose to pursue his passion for advocating on behalf of injured individuals by joining Richardson, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman's Columbia office. His experience defending companies gives him valuable insight into how businesses approach litigation, providing a strategic advantage when representing plaintiffs. AJ later returned to Horry County, where he focuses on helping individuals who have been injured through no fault of their own. His practice areas include motor vehicle accidents, catastrophic injuries, and premises liability.
In April 2020, AJ was confirmed by the South Carolina Legislature as a Commissioner on the State Ethics Commission, serving a term from 2020 to 2025. In this role, the Commission investigates complaints involving members and candidates of the General Assembly, as well as elected and appointed state and local public officials.
AJ has earned recognition for his professional accomplishments, including being named one of the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 Civil Plaintiff Attorneys in South Carolina. He was also selected for Best Lawyers' 2020 "Ones to Watch" list, highlighting his emerging leadership and excellence in the legal profession.
