There has to be more to this, right?
I found myself asking that question more frequently as the distance between me and law school increased. When am I going to start enjoying it?
The Law Firm of Evan J. Bergeron was born from these questions. After nearly eight years in a large-firm setting billing hours in insurance defense work, the time had come for reinvention. I needed to enjoy what I was doing, and I needed to feel like I was helping others in the process. As a result, every one of the practice areas listed above is something I will enjoy doing for you.
In addition to my practice, I serve as an Adjunct Professor of Advocacy at the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law (and am the first person ever to receive that designation) where I teach appellate advocacy and First Amendment Law through my work with the National First Amendment Moot Court team. I graduated from Loyola Law with honors in 2011 after serving as a member of both the Moot Court Board and the Loyola Journal of Public Interest Law and as Chief Justice of the Honor Board. I also represent Orleans Parish in the Louisiana State Bar Association’s House of Delegates, serving since 2016.
But I may be most proud of my efforts to foster a new generation of young leaders in Louisiana through New Leaders Council (NLC), a progressive leadership development organization with fifty chapters nationwide. I served as the Louisiana Chapter Director for NLC for two years, training scores of young professionals in public service, entrepreneurship, advocacy, and other fundamentals of leadership. I’m continuing my work with NLC-Louisiana as Chapter Director Emeritus and as teaching faculty for the organization’s premier training program, the NLC Institute.
Originally from Pierre Part, Louisiana, and after a four-year stay in Baton Rouge for college at LSU and a one-year teaching assistantship in Morlaix, France, I now live in uptown New Orleans with my dog, Marshall Ginsburg Bergeron. In my personal time, I’m an avid member of the WHO DAT Nation, and I enjoy LSU football, tennis, theatre, and simultaneously singing, dancing, and cooking in my kitchen. Like any red-blooded American, I spend my rainy day downtime binge watching Netflix and Hulu. I’m fluent in French, legalese, and sarcasm.
