Chad is a seasoned lawyer with a proven track record of success in various areas of law. He joined our firm in 2013 and quickly rose to become an owner in 2017. With a results-oriented approach and a strong commitment to effective client communication, Chad has become an integral part of our team.
One of Chad's primary areas of expertise is managing our firm's Personal Injury practice. Under his leadership, the practice has flourished, handling well over one hundred active cases at any given time. Chad adeptly handles cases involving auto accidents, dog bites, falls, defective joint replacements, nursing home negligence, and medical malpractice. His ability to take claims to jury trial and seven-figure settlements showcase his dedication to achieving the best outcomes for his clients.
In addition to his work in Personal Injury, Chad serves as general counsel for several local businesses. He skillfully handles their litigation needs, navigates employer/employee relationships, manages vendor interactions, negotiates contracts, and provides essential day-to-day advice. His diverse clientele includes landlords, technology companies, banks, churches, transportation companies, engineering firms, and more.
For Landlords, Chad handles Fair Housing claims, subsidized housing, Ohio Civil Rights Commission cases, Civil Protection Orders, Compliance Training, Evictions, Environmental Court, Tax Appeals, Rent Escrow Cases, Vendor Relations, and defense of matters related to property ownerships. Chad enjoys assisting his subsidized housing landlords with volunteer activities like welcome kits, and holiday decorating.
Chad's expertise extends to complex civil litigation cases as well. He has tackled a range of challenging legal matters, including a major copyright infringement and anti-trust case in the Northern District of California. He s litigated a franchisor/franchisee dispute that resulted in arbitration in Miami, Florida. Moreover, Chad settled a million-dollar adversary proceeding in the Ohio Southern District Bankruptcy Court and argues before the Ohio Court of Appeals.
Chad's exceptional legal skills have not gone unnoticed within the legal community. He has been recognized by his peers and Super Lawyers as a "Rising Star" from 2019 to 2022. In 2018, the American Society of Legal Advocates named him a Top 40 under 40 litigator. These accolades reflect his dedication to delivering outstanding legal representation.
Chad obtained his license to practice law in Ohio in 2012. He earned his law degree from Capital University Law School in 2012 and completed his undergraduate studies at The College of Wooster in 2009, majoring in History and minoring in Political Science and Education. He is licensed by The Supreme Court of Ohio and all Courts of the State of Ohio, as well as The United States of America Southern and Northern Districts of Ohio.
Prior to joining our firm, Chad gained valuable experience through various internships and work placements. He clerked at a general practice firm in Millersburg, Ohio, and interned at NiSource, Inc., The Ohio House of Representatives, and The Ohio State University Athletic Compliance Department.
Chad actively participates in professional organizations, including the Ohio State Bar Association and Columbus Bar Association. He previously served as the Chairperson for the Columbus Bar Association Notary Committee and their Prosecutorial Committee, and he was a former District 7 Council of Delegates Representative for the Ohio State Bar Association. Currently, Chad serves as a Board Member for Destination Hilliard. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, Hilliard Optimist Club, and a former President of his local AM Spirit Business Connections Chapter.
Outside of his legal practice, Chad resides in Upper Arlington with his wife, Emily, who is a pediatric nephrologist at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and their three children. In his free time, Chad enjoys quality moments with his family and friends, playing sports, and passionately supporting local Ohio professional and college teams.
