Ben enjoys helping people understand and use the legal system to regain control after life’s most difficult moments. Practicing since 2010, Ben has litigated for clients in South Carolina’s trial courts, administrative law court, Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court.
Ben spent his early years in practice in public service. He worked as an Appellate Defender in South Carolina's Office of Indigent Defense from 2013 to 2016, and he worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Beaufort County from 2016 to 2019. In 2023, after working for civil defense firms litigating personal injury, defamation, and privacy cases, he joined the Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers to help individuals who have been injured by the wrongdoing of others.
A native of Irmo, South Carolina, Ben graduated from Duke University and the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was an Articles Editor for the South Carolina Journal of International Law and Business and a member of the Moot Court Bar. He is admitted to South Carolina state and federal courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He lives with his wife and young son in Mount Pleasant.
