Bradley M. Cosgrove is a partner at Clifford Law Offices in Chicago where he represents plaintiffs in complex medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, aviation, and wrongful death litigation. A nationally recognized trial lawyer, Cosgrove has obtained numerous record-setting verdicts and settlements on behalf of injured individuals and their families.
Cosgrove began his trial career immediately upon being sworn in as an attorney, trying his first jury case the day after receiving his law license. Within five months, he delivered the closing argument in a trucking case that resulted in a $3 million gross verdict for the family of a man killed in a crash. The verdict was later affirmed by the Illinois Appellate Court in U.S. Bank v. Lindsey, helping solidify “logo liability” in trucking cases throughout Illinois, a legal principle that holds trucking companies responsible for drivers operating under their authority.
Throughout his career, Cosgrove has secured many landmark results, including verdicts that were among the largest of their kind in Illinois at the time. These include a $101 million verdict for a child who suffered a birth injury, a $66 million wrongful death verdict for a mother of four following a negligent surgical procedure, and a $40 million verdict involving failure to diagnose and treat hypertension leading to stroke, as well as a $21.5 million verdict in a drowning case.
Cosgrove has achieved numerous additional multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements in medical negligence, trucking, and catastrophic injury cases across Illinois and other states.
He has been recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers®, selected to the Top 100 Illinois Super Lawyers® list since 2023, and has received numerous honors for his trial work.
