Founder & Managing Attorney
Brian Coffman is the founder of Coffman Law Offices, which concentrates its practice in helping victims of personal injury, medical malpractice, aviation and transportation disasters. Brian and his team handles complex litigation cases and have been able to receive multi-million dollar verdict and settlement on behalf of his clients.
Mr. Coffman has represented those injured or killed in every type of transportation, medical malpractice, and injury case in the U.S. in the last two decades.
One of Brian’s most notable cases is the $3 million settlement for the family of Cedrick Chatman, a young 17-year-old child who was unarmed and tragically shot and killed by Chicago Police in broad daylight on January 7, 2013. Brian’s tireless effort to unearth video that was hidden by the City of Chicago of the shooting led to a significant change to police accountability in Chicago and around the country.
Another notable case achieved a $19,500,000 settlement on behalf of a 56-year-old man who was admitted to Northwestern Memorial Hospital on a ventilator with sepsis and acute hypoxemia respiratory failure after being treated for a pulmonary embolism at Lake Forest Hospital. As a result of the doctors failing to use a guide while performing a tracheostomy exchange the client suffered a hypoxic brain injury and was diagnosed with Lance-Adams Syndrome.
Brian also successfully recovers $1 million on behalf of a 58-year-old Chicago woman who was hit head-on by the defendant driver when he crossed the center line. Mr. Coffman fought against the insurance company for over 10 years, with two trips to the 1st District Appellate Court to obtain a life-changing result for his client.
In addition to practicing law, Mr. Coffman is dedicated to the furtherance of the legal profession and is a member of the American Association of Justice. He is also active with the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. Brian also holds memberships with the Illinois State Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association, and Lawyers Club of Chicago.
