Attorney Chelsey Marto is an experienced courtroom attorney who has handled hundreds of criminal related matters, including murder, rape, drug trafficking, armed robbery, burglary, and child sexual assault. She graduated the University of Maine School of Law in 2019, where she was an active participant in the school’s moot court program, as well as the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal. Starting the summer after her first year of law school, she began clerking for the Maine Criminal Defense Group, where she assisted attorneys with brief, motion, and memo writing, research, and discovery breakdown and analysis. It was here that she determined she wanted to dedicate her career to criminal defense work. After graduating and moving to South Carolina, she began working as an Assistant Attorney General practicing post-conviction relief and appellate work. Here, she learned the inner workings of the State and how prosecutors’ assess and conduct cases, which she carries with her in her criminal defense practice. When off the clock, Ms. Marto enjoys weightlifting, reading, cooking, and checking out new hard rock/heavy metal music.
