Christopher Baker is an Associate Attorney with the James Law Firm. Chris focuses primarily on Federal criminal defense matters, along with any of the companion offenses that may be charged at the same time by the State of Arkansas.

Chris started his adult life working for the United States Navy as a submariner. On submarines, Chris’ work focused primarily on information system security, computer networking, and engagement with long range Tomahawk missile systems. While in the Navy, Chris became intimately familiar with a variety of firearms and shipboard weapons, where he eventually qualified as an expert rifle and pistol shooter and worked as an assistant firearms instructor on the ship.

Following service in the military, Chris began working as a criminal defense investigator and process server. Since then, Chris’ work has varied as he took on positions within the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a correctional officer, ICE-HSI as a Special Agent intern within the Counter-Proliferations Unit (Weapon Trafficking), and then the Department of Veteran Affairs as a military disability claims adjudicator, where he was frequently utilized on claims of interest by the Office of the Inspector General.

Chris has a long history and knowledge of firearms, use of force of guidelines, and the Federal regulations on firearm sales and manufacturing. He is currently certified as a semi-automatic pistol and rifle instructor by National Rifle Association and was previously certified by Sig Sauer as a Law Enforcement Pistol instructor, Active Shooter Response Instructor, and Glock certified armorer.

On the education front, Chris graduated from the University of Arkansas Bowen School of Law in 2022. In 2012, Chris graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland University College. Also, Chris has been to a variety of trade schools, such as the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (Glynco, GA), Auxiliary Security Force Police training academy while in the military, and specialized training while working as a Special Agent Intern with the HSI concerning weapons and narcotics. While in the military, Chris trained on computer network security, electronics, and computer information systems. Much of this training allows Chris to have intimate knowledge of how the government obtains and uses their information and evidence, all which works to the benefit of the firm’s clients.
