Cody has been a longtime advocate for the accused, beginning in law school when he assisted with successfully reversing a client’s death sentence during an internship at the Georgia Capital Defender Office.
After graduating from Emory University School of Law, Cody was hired by the Legal Aid Society in New York City, one of the nation’s top public defender offices. He worked in Legal Aid’s Manhattan office for a decade, where he collaborated with many other criminal defense attorneys and represented thousands of clients who faced criminal charges.
Cody has experience with complex cases involving scientific evidence and has worked with experts in the fields of DNA analysis, firearm ballistics, sexual assault examination, emergency medicine, breathalyzer science, and forensic psychiatry. Cody has comprehensive jury trial experience and routinely persuades juries to find in favor of his clients.
Cody practices at the intersection of criminal law and civil rights. He represents clients accused of committing crimes, and he commences civil litigation to seek justice for his clients who are victims of police misconduct.
