My record of success in the courtroom includes several verdicts in excess of $1,000,000.
I help people and privately owned businesses who have been taken advantage of by large corporations or insurance companies. I work through the civil justice system to stop the wrongdoing or, if that’s not possible, to secure full compensation for the harm that has been done.
In my over 20 years of practice, I’ve helped hundreds of clients successfully resolve their legal disputes. Early on, I knew I wanted to work in the courtroom.
There are two cases I am most proud of. One involved a client who became disabled when he was rear-ended by a U-Haul truck that had defective brakes. In the second case, I helped a woman who had been passed over for tenure in her job, due to her national origin.

I was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Pascagoula, where I attended public school with my brother and sister. My family was very close, and we were lucky to spend a lot of time with our grandparents. I was very active in sports as a child and played sports in college, winning the Flag Football Championship.
I grew up playing sports and remain a very active sportsman. The beautiful water of the Mississippi coast calls out to me. I am an avid sportsman and enjoy fishing and boating with my family. My other hobbies include sports, music and being around optimistic people.
My wife Marcie and I have three children – Merritt, Bess and Max – who live with us in Waveland.
After seeing and experiencing the devastation wrought by Katrina, I felt a call to public service. In 2007, my neighbors elected me to the Mississippi State Senate. In 2011, I was elected to represent District 122 in the Mississippi House of Representatives and am honored to continue serving my community and our coastal interests.
Since my election to the legislature, I have worked towards insurance reforms and improving the way in which claims are handled. I was also instrumental in passing several “Sunshine” bills that have helped provide more accountability in state government. The American Lung Association and the American Federation of Teachers graciously selected me to receive legislative awards for my work in the Senate.

I am a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi (B.S. Criminal Justice) and The University of Mississippi Law School.
I am admitted to practice in all Mississippi federal and state courts and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a Fellow of the Mississippi State Bar. The Board of United Policyholders, a renowned national advocacy group for insureds, recently elected me to their Board of Directors. Like my wife, Marcie, I am also committed to community service. I am a proud member of our local Rotary and Kiwanis. Our family participates in many charity organizations that benefit our Mississippi coastal communities.
