“Everyone can have an equal voice in a courtroom no matter where you come from or how much money you have. I love that. The law is the great equalizer that allows anyone to go against a Goliath and fight like David.”

David Grimmett loves fighting for clients when it seems like the odds are stacked against them. Whether it’s a big insurance company denying compensation to someone who’s hurt or the government trying to take away someone’s rights, David won’t stand down until his clients get what they deserve.

He takes a long-term view and works to achieve results that provide the best outcome for the future, rather than settling for a short-term gain. “I do not simply want to make a statement,” he explains. “I want to win!”

Clients appreciate his willingness to take the time to explain complex issues in language that relates personally to them. He strives to ensure that clients understand the process and the potential ramifications of choices made along the way. Taking a strategic approach to litigation, he uses every step in the process to create an advantage and build a stronger case. Clients get 100% of his effort all the time, because that’s what he wants to give them. Achieving success for clients is his life’s mission.

David tried his first case two weeks after passing the bar exam, and his enthusiasm for courtroom advocacy has not wavered during the hundreds of cases he’s tried since. He’s admitted to practice in courts throughout the state, as well as the Tennessee Federal Courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Due to his expertise, David has served as chairman of the Nashville Bar Association’s Juvenile Court Section and chairman of the Tennessee Bar Association Administrative Law Section. He is also a member of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association. He is board certified in child welfare law and has served as a special magistrate in severe abuse cases.

While he enjoys training other attorneys, he still finds the greatest satisfaction in helping individuals overcome the problems they are facing. “When you are in a personal injury case or in a child custody case,” he notes, “it feels very lonely because everyone seems to say what the problems are, but no one has any solutions. My job is to provide the solutions and show you that there is a way out.”

David enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter. When not working on a case, his greatest challenge is trying to figure out precisely when his house became entirely decorated in pink.
