Mr. Wilson was born and raised in Oklahoma city, OK. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Visual Communications. His active involvement in the Navy ROTC, student government, and community service increased his desire to study the law and become an attorney so he could help those that found themselves in need of a legal advocate.
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, he moved to Minnesota to attend law school at Hamline University. While at Hamline, Mr. Wilson was on the Frederick Douglass Moot Court and National Moot Court. There he then obtained his first legal job as an unpaid volunteer for a solo practitioner after his first year of law school. Before starting work for the Hennepin County Public Defender's office as a law clerk. After one year as a law clerk, he became a head law clerk supervising a staff of approximately 15 law clerks, in Minnesota's largest county public defender's office.
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Wilson was hired as a judicial law clerk for the former Chief Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. After completing his judicial clerkship, Mr. Wilson returned to the Hennepin County Public Defender's Office as an Assistant Public Defender representing Adults in Misdemeanors and Felony Offenses, such as DWI's, Domestic Assaults, Disorderly conduct and Felonies, such as drug offenses, burglaries, robberies, criminal sexual conduct offenses, thefts, assaults, and homicides. The last three years of his time at the Public Defender's Office, Mr. Wilson defended clients in drug court. In 2007, Mr. Wilson devoted all of his efforts on his private practice full time. He has since expanded his practice to representing individuals in family court matters, immigration, personal injuries, and employment discrimination.
Since he began practicing law in 1998, Mr. Wilson has effectively represented over 1,500 clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal matters, divorce, child support, child custody, juvenile protection, auto accidents, slip and falls, premises liability, employment discrimination, fraud, business contract disputes, foreclosure and eviction matters, conciliation court matters, and immigration matters.
