Finn Skovdal is an experienced trial attorney in the Greater Philadelphia area. After graduating from Duquesne University School of Law, Finn began his legal career as a prosecutor in the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office. During his six years as a prosecutor, Finn handled thousands of criminal cases and conducted countless trials and hearings. In the District Attorney’s Office, Finn’s trial skills helped him gain a position in the Violent Crimes and Firearms Unit, where he tried complex cases such as Aggravated Assaults, Firearm Violations, and Homicides.
Prior to becoming a prosecutor, Finn’s career in criminal law began in law school, where he served as an intern in the Homicide Unit, assisting prosecutors in preparing for trial and writing briefs. As a Certified Legal Intern, he also represented the Commonwealth during bench trials on DUI and Simple Assault cases. While in law school, Finn wrote for both the Duquesne Law Review and the Duquesne Criminal Law Blog, where he researched and published articles on pressing issues in criminal law. He was also a member of the Black Law Student Association’s (BLSA) Trial Advocacy Team, where he helped lead Duquesne Law’s team to win the regional championship in the Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition, one of the oldest and most respected mock trial competitions in the United States.
Finn has always believed that everyone has a right to be heard in the criminal justice system. As a criminal defense attorney, Finn passionately advocates for those who need help navigating the criminal justice system.
