Greg Willis
Willis Law Firm
Atlanta,
 GA

Before building the most recognized DUI defense practice in Georgia, Greg served as a public defender — working inside the criminal justice system, learning firsthand how the government investigates, charges, and prosecutes defendants. That experience as a public defender shapes how he approaches every case today: he knows precisely what the prosecution is looking for, where their case is vulnerable, and how to exploit those vulnerabilities at every level of the system.

His grandfather served in World War II. That sense of duty — the obligation to fight for others regardless of the odds — has defined Greg’s approach to the law from his very first day in a courtroom.

In 2019, Greg won one of the most significant DUI cases in Georgia history when the Georgia Supreme Court ruled that key provisions of Georgia’s DUI implied consent laws were unconstitutional — striking down statutes that allowed a driver’s refusal to submit to a breath test to be used as evidence of guilt at trial. That ruling reshaped DUI defense practice across the entire state of Georgia.

In March 2026, Greg obtained the Manning Order from Cobb County State Court — a ruling declaring O.C.G.A. § 40-6-392(d) unconstitutional as applied, under both the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and Article I, Section I, Paragraph XIII of the Georgia Constitution. This ruling has immediate implications for blood draw DUI cases across Georgia.

Greg has more than 100 published appellate decisions — a body of work that reflects not just volume, but a career dedicated to pushing constitutional law forward.

As former Chairman of the Amicus Committee for the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL), Greg was the attorney the state’s criminal defense bar trusted to write briefs on the most consequential cases in Georgia. That is peer recognition that no marketing award can replicate.

Greg currently serves as President of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association (DUIDLA) — the national organization dedicated to advancing the science and law of DUI defense. DUI attorneys from across the country attend his seminars and learn his strategies. He is not just a practitioner of DUI defense; he is one of its national educators and leaders.

Greg Willis has been selected as a Georgia Super Lawyer in DUI defense for 13 consecutive years, from 2014 through 2026. Super Lawyers designations are awarded to no more than 5% of attorneys in any state, determined by peer nominations and independent research. Thirteen consecutive years in the same specialty reflects the depth and durability of Greg’s standing in the Georgia legal community.
