After completing his bachelor’s degree at the College of William & Mary, Mr. Bendell received his law degree from Rutgers Law School. Since then, he’s accumulated over 40 years of trial experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in civil and criminal cases. He has also served as a Superior Court Commissioner and Judge Pro Tem and worked as an insurance company defense lawyer for many years.
Accepting only a few cases at a time, Mr. Bendell treats each client with the focus and attention needed to help them achieve their highest legal goals. He maintains close contact throughout the process via in-person, written and telephone communication, and through his firm’s cloud-based case management system. This system sends and receives documentation on the same day, avoiding potential delays with the postal mail system.
A Unique Perspective
Following his graduation from Rutgers, attorney James Bendell worked two years as a prosecutor, then 16 as a litigator for insurance companies defending persons who caused accidents or were responsible for other types of negligence. Following that experience, he moved to the other side, working as a plaintiff’s attorney representing injured parties in court. This dual perspective of knowing how insurance adjusters and their defense attorneys think, gives Mr. Bendell a unique and decided advantage on behalf of his injured or otherwise wronged clients.
His work as a Superior Court Commissioner and Judge Pro Tem included presiding over hearings and jury trials, providing him a neutral view of cases and a unique understanding of the trial system. This extremely rare collection of legal experiences allows attorney James Bendell to have empathy for all types of clients while remaining intellectually objective.
