James S. Betzelos, Esq. is a Personal Injury Attorney at The Law Offices of Sobo & Sobo.
James has experience handling a variety of personal injury cases including, but not limited to: motor vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, bicycle accidents, slip and falls, trip and falls, and dog bites.
James is a 2018 graduate of The University of Illinois at Chicago where he attained his Bachelor’s degree. Mr. Betzelos received his Juris Doctor from the UIC School of Law where he graduated cum laude in 2021. While in law school, Mr. Betzelos served on the Trial Advocacy Honors Program as the Vice Barrister. Mr. Betzelos competed in several national trial competitions, and was named the National Champion of the 2020 Capitol City Challenge National Trial Competition in Washington, D.C. Mr. Betzelos participated in several interscholastic moot court and trial advocacy competitions, and won the UIC 1L Moot Court Competition in 2019. Mr. Betzelos served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Anna Helen Demacopoulos in the Circuit Court of Cook County Chancery Division.
James has been practicing plaintiff’s personal injury law for 5 years as an attorney, and has worked in the plaintiff’s personal injury field as a law clerk through college and law school since 2016. James has a passion for obtaining favorable outcomes for individual clients and providing a voice for those who would not otherwise have one regarding the clients’ legal rights. James has played basketball competitively from a young age and believes his love for sports contributes to his passion, competitiveness, and drive to advocate for his clients. James’ favorite part of the job is being the person the client can trust while navigating through tough times.
James is an active member of the Hellenic Bar Association. Mr. Betzelos was awarded the 2019 Diamond Mendonides Memorial Scholarship at the Hellenic Bar Association’s 69th Annual Scholarship Ball. He is also a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Chicago Bar Association.
