James Curcio was raised in downstate New York, earned his undergraduate degree at Syracuse University, and completed his juris doctorate at Michigan State University College of Law. During law school he worked and volunteered for legal clinics managed by the University, including the Alvin L. Storrs Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, with the goal of providing low- and no-cost legal services to underrepresented clients.
James is admitted to practice throughout Michigan and in the Federal District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Western District of Michigan. His professional memberships include the State Bar of Michigan Criminal and Family Law Sections. Before joining the firm James practiced in collection and corporate litigation. He participated in discovery on several prominent cases including DEA and SEC regulatory investigations involving the opioid crisis and securities designations for cryptocurrency, respectively, as well as numerous mergers in a wide range of industries valued between 100 million and 22 billion dollars.
An active member of the American Humanist Association, The Humanist Society, and The Humanist Legal Society, James is passionate about social justice, access to legal services, and secularism. He seeks to minimize the inequities of circumstance and maximize the common good for all, especially for those in greatest need.
