
Founding Attorney
James “Jimmy” Courtenay is a founding partner of JJC Law LLC (ranked by Best Law Firms), where he specializes in transportation litigation (18 wheeler, auto, rideshare), maritime, general personal injury and insurance litigation. Jimmy spent his first 7+ years of practice defending insurance companies, trucking companies and corporations in personal injury litigation while also handling insurance coverage issues and disputes. Since March of 2016, 98% of Jimmy's practice involves Plaintiff litigation, including personal injury, insurance disputes, and commercial litigation. Jimmy has successfully handled cases through trial and appeal, argued countless motions before both State and Federal Judges, and is often retained by other attorneys to assist them in litigation matters. Jimmy is licensed in Louisiana and Tennessee and is equally comfortable in state or federal court.
Jimmy was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and has deep roots in the community. As a former LSU football player (2003 National Champions), Jimmy continues his involvement with sports by coaching one or more of his four daughters in a number of different sports throughout the year.
Jimmy is an active member of the New Orleans Bar Association, Jefferson Parish Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, New Orleans Chapter, and Louisiana Association of Justice (among others). Jimmy is a former member of the Mariners Club of New Orleans, Transportation Lawyers Association, Trucking Industry Defense Association “TIDA”, and Claims and Litigation Management Alliance where he finished Level 1 and 2 (of 3) of CLM's "Claims College, School of Transportation".
