JAMES E. YAVORCIK is a partner at Cubbon and Associates and has been with the firm since 1987. He has been admitted to practice in Ohio since 1979 and is also admitted in the State of Michigan, the U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. Jim is board certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Prior to joining Cubbon and Associates, Jim was an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, and also has been appointed special prosecutor in Van Wert and Lucas County on fraud and homicide cases.
Jim is past president of the Toledo Bar Association and is a past president of the Toledo Area Trial Lawyers Association. He formerly served as a Trustee for the Ohio Association of Justice and is a member of the American, Ohio and Michigan associations for Justice. He is also a member of the American, Ohio State, Lucas County and Michigan bar associations. Jim is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and has been listed in Outstanding Lawyers of America and in Ohio Super Lawyers. He was named Toledo Lawyer of the Year in the field of Plaintiff’s personal injury work in 2017 and 2021.
Jim has lectured frequently for the past 35 years in Toledo, Columbus, and Cleveland on such topics as jury selection, evidence, medical malpractice and professionalism. He has a referral-driven practice, limited to serious injury and death cases.  He also serves as a private mediator in Northwest Ohio.
