Born in Davao City, Philippines, Jamie has always been passionate about positively impacting her community. She began her career in government working for the California legislature. During her tenure in the legislature, Jamie started as a legislative aide in the California Senate and would go on to be a legislative director and chief of staff in the California Assembly. In between her time in the Senate and Assembly, Jamie worked for a lobbying firm and the City of Sacramento, gaining extensive experience in working with different facets of local, state, and federal government affairs work.
After her time in the California Assembly, Jamie took the next step of attending law school. At this time, Jamie was named among the Dean's List every year, received multiple academic achievement awards, and graduated magna cum laude at the top of her class. During law school, Jamie switched her career focus to non-profit advocacy. She worked for the Child Abuse Prevention Center as a legislative advocate to advance policies to support children and families. Jamie then moved on to be the director of external and governmental affairs with Head Start California where she lobbied in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. for Head Start programs that serve the early education needs of children aged 0-5.
Jamie eventually decided to practice law, after a 12-year career in government and advocacy. She wanted to build upon her work helping communities and people in need, which is why she was drawn to class action and mass tort law. Jamie enjoys working with people and finding solutions to provide relief to those in need.
Jamie considers herself a social justice advocate at heart and will always fight the good fight-whether in the halls of Congress or in the courtroom. Jamie is also an adjunct professor at Lincoln Law School and serves on the Women Lawyers of Sacramento Board of Directors as Co-Chair of the Programs Committee. Jamie is an active member of American Association for Justice (AAJ)’s Minority Caucus and is a member of the Sacramento Filipino American Lawyers Association’s Social Committee. Her hobbies include practicing yoga, binge watching Korean dramas, and spending time with her husband and their dog.
