The Mundy Firm – Experience, Dedication, and Commitment to the Pursuit of Justice for Our Clients

The Mundy Firm is committed to the pursuit of justice for those seriously injured by wrongful conduct or defective products.

Our lawyers, led by Austin trial lawyer Jeff Mundy, provide legal help to those who have suffered significant personal injury or financial damages as a result of wrongful conduct or defective products.

Some lawyers call themselves “trial lawyers.” Some have earned it.

Lead attorney, Jeff Mundy, is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Jeff is one of only 1,678 of the more than 71,000 lawyers in Texas to achieve board certification in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Jeff also has attained the highest possible rating of “AV” peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell for ethical standards and legal ability.

Board certification by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization is the only certification in a trial law specialization administered by the State Bar of Texas.

Do not be confused by similar sounding labels, but which are not administered by the State Bar of Texas.

To receive board certification, a lawyer is required to try a pre-determined number of jury trials to verdict taking into account the complexity of the case, and number of days in trial. Then the lawyer must submit the names of all judges and opposing counsel to the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, who then sends confidential questionnaires regarding the integrity and competence of the applicant. If the applicant attorney meets the requirements for trial experience, and the confidential interview process, then the applicant submits to a written examination to further test their competence in the law and evidence relevant to the area of specialization. If they pass, only then are they “board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.” The board certification is only valid for five years. Then the applicant must again apply demonstrating substantial involvement in the area of practice, courtroom experience, trials, and again submit to the confidential questionnaire process.

Mr. Mundy was licensed in 1988, and received his board certification in personal injury trial law in 1996, with re-certifications in 2001, 2006, and 2011. His current certification is in effect until 2016.

Mr. Mundy has served as lead trial counsel in cases involving bus wrecks, truck wrecks, car wrecks, police shooting and civil rights, assaults on women, and workplace violence against employees. He also has served as co-counsel in a trial involving violations of the Endangered Species Act. Additionally, he has handled commercial litigation for some of the largest corporations when they have fallen victim to wrongful conduct and sustained substantial financial losses. Helping Jeff are other lawyers with substantial experience.

Austin, Texas board certified personal injury trial lawyer Jeff Mundy and other firm lawyers fight for every client’s rights under the law.  Helping Mr. Mundy are other attorneys, who Mr. Mundy has found to be wonderfully qualified and helpful, but who have chosen career paths in which they work and help on a part-time contract basis. Mr. Mundy is the only attorney who is board certified. He is involved and primarily responsible for the representation of every client.

We are proud that we frequently serve as the lawyers for other lawyers when we receive client referrals, or we are called in to assist other law firms in their fights for justice against aggressive corporate defendants who use “scorched earth” tactics, especially in trial and discovery battles.

We Limit Our Caseload to Serve You Better

The firm is highly selective in the acceptance of its clients and limits itself to a small number of cases at any one time. We believe that every client's case is important and we devote our full resources, time and energy to pursue a just result for the client.

In order to allow all of our Austin, San Antonio, and Houston clients to have access to an exceptional personal injury and wrongful death lawyer, The Mundy Firm accepts clients on a contingency basis. This means that our clients are not required to pay unless and until we successfully achieve compensation for them.

Our attorneys can tell you more about the legal services we offer and how a successful outcome to your case can help you and your family attain justice, compensation, and peace of mind.

We encourage residents of Austin, San Antonio, Houston, or any part of Texas to contact The Mundy Firm to speak with a wrongful death and personal injury lawyer today.

Jeff Mundy brings to you the skill and experience generally available only to the largest, richest, and most powerful corporations. Prior to representing the working people of Austin and Houston as a personal injury attorney, Jeff began his career working for a major law firm defending and managing litigation for some of the most powerful companies in the world. Now, he applies his skill and passion to provide to the residents of Austin, Houston, and surrounding communities the services of a dedicated personal injury attorney.

Jeff Mundy graduated early from the Plan II Honors Program at the University of Texas in 1984, and then worked for the staff of the governor until beginning law school. He earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1988 from the University of Houston Law Center. Jeff is one of only 1,715 of the more than 71,000 lawyers in Texas to achieve board certification in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

What does "board certified" mean?

The Texas Board of Legal Specialization certifies attorneys in 18 specific areas of law. Application for certification is voluntary for attorneys, and board certification is valid for five years. Board certified attorneys have met specific requirements and passed a day-long written examination in their area of specialization. To stay certified, an attorney must meet substantial requirements for his or her specialty area, which include peer review and continuing legal education. This very rigorous and demanding certification process helps insure that the citizens of Texas receive the highest quality legal services.

To become board certified in a specialty area, an attorney must have:

1. Had a license to practice law for at least five years;

2. Dedicated a required percentage of his or her practice to a specialty area for at least three years;

3. Demonstrated involvement and experience by handling a wide spectrum of legal matters;

4. Kept legal training up to date by participating in continuing education seminars;

5. Undergone evaluation by judges and fellow attorneys; and

6. Passed a day-long written examination.

Jeff Mundy is actively involved in community service, especially with issues related to the conservation of wildlife habitat and quality-of-life issues.

Houston and Austin residents can contact personal injury attorney Jeffery Mundy to discuss their case and learn how he can provide them personal service that goes beyond the courtroom.
