After seven long years as a dedicated public servant, Mr. Jorge M. De Hoyos joins Pate & Paugh as one
of the most successful public defenders in Sedgwick County, KS, history. He is licensed to practice in
Kansas and Missouri, and could be available nationwide.
First becoming a trial attorney in April 2018, Jorge won his first jury trial in September 2018. As a Lead
Assistant Public Defender, he maintained a +90% win-rate on jury verdicts. He has written, filed, and
won countless motions and briefs, and has had success in the state-appellate courts. He maintains
a reputation as one of the most tenacious, hardest working, and devoted criminal defense attorneys in
the State of Kansas.
Jorge focuses on criminal law including State and Federal charges. He has significant trial experience in
claims of Self-Defense, Shaken Baby Syndrome (aka Abusive Head Trauma) defense, defense against
crimes of violence, defense against crimes of domestic violence, defense against crimes of sexual
violence, and criminal jury trial practices.
Jorge earned his Eagle Scout Award from the Scouting America in 2003. He received a Bachelor’s
degree in Business Administration from Wichita State University in 2010, and completed his dual degree in
Masters of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate at the Washburn University School of Law in
2016.
Jorge spends his free time fueling his comic book collection, trying to golf, and spending time with his
family.
