Joshua J. Cordova was born in Tacoma, Washington to a bilingual family. Mr. Cordova grew up in El Paso, Texas, and attended high school at J. M. Hanks High School. Upon graduation from high school, Mr. Cordova received athletic scholarships to play baseball at The University of New Mexico and El Paso Community College. During his collegiate athletic career, he received an Associates of Arts from El Paso Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with Minors in Biology and Chemistry from The University of Texas at El Paso and his Juris Doctorate from Arizona Summit Law School (formerly Phoenix School of Law).
Mr. Cordova sat for, and passed, the Arizona State Bar Exam in 2014. Upon becoming licensed as an attorney in the State of Arizona, Mr. Cordova worked as an associate attorney with Donovan Law, P.L.L.C., and as an Assistant Legal Defender with the Yuma County Legal Defender’s Office, where he focused his practice primarily in criminal law. In 2018, Mr. Cordova, joined The Law Offices of Ryan C. Hengl, Esq., P.L.C., as a Senior Associate focusing still on criminal law, but also opening his practice to business law, real estate, commercial transactions, contracts, litigation and estate planning. Throughout Mr. Cordova’s legal career, he has represented individuals in many areas of law including appeals and post-conviction relief. Mr. Cordova has presented oral arguments in front of the Arizona Court of Appeals Division 1 and has handled cases in all courts within Yuma County.
In October of 2019, Mr. Cordova opened Cordova Law, P.L.C. Mr. Cordova still focuses on criminal and civil law but has also geared his practice heavily into defending and litigating DUIs. Mr. Cordova is currently an active member in the bars of the State of Arizona and United States District Court for the State of Arizona.
Mr. Cordova enjoys serving the Yuma community as he is currently a member and of the Yuma County Bar Association, a member of NexGen and a member of the County Attorney’s Community Justice Board.
