Layne Walker, a Beaumont native, proudly represents the people of his hometown and the surrounding Southeast Texas cities in the courtroom—a service the Walker family has provided for over 70 years. Layne is the son of Judge Layne Walker and Cynthia Walker and the grandson of the late Chief Justice Ronald L. Walker. Layne graduated from Hardin-Jefferson High School then attended Lamar University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Background & Education
Layne graduated from South Texas College of Law Houston in the top third of his class and obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence in an astonishing two and a half years. While working to graduate early, Layne distinguished himself at the Summer Trial Academy in 2018 where he was named one of the school’s Top Advocates. Layne was subsequently placed on several prominent advocacy teams and competed in mock trail competitions across the country including Alabama, Georgia, Washington D.C., and California. He once again distinguished himself as an advocate when he was awarded the Best Closing Argument at the prestigious Nation Civil Trial Competition in 2019. Layne was a member of the school’s Board of Advocates and was selected for the Order of Barristers, a nationally prominent organization for top graduates who excelled in advocacy. Layne’s achievements illustrate his willingness to work hard as well as succeed in any undertaking with a high degree of skill and care.
