Layne Walker is the Former Judge of the 252nd District Court located in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas. He was elected in 2002 and faithfully served as Judge for many years and ultimately received the prestigious Honorable Ted Poe - “Best Damn Judge Award” and was recognized as the best criminal judge in the State of Texas by the Texas Gang Investigators Association.
Former Judge Layne Walker stepped down from the bench in January 2014 for a prestigious position with a top ten Fortune 500 Company. Upon successful completion of that task, Former Judge Layne Walker was offered a position with the law firm of Provost Umphrey by Walter Umphrey himself. Former Judge Layne Walker maintained his status as a visiting Judge until late 2016.
Former Judge Layne Walker is a native of Beaumont, with 31 years of experience, with a family legacy that includes his Grandfather Ted R. Walker, County Commissioner, and his late father Judge Ronald L. Walker whom served as Judge of the 58th District Court, Chief Justice of the 9th Court of Appeals, and went on to be elected as Jefferson County Judge.
