Recently acknowledged as one of Denver's top 100 attorneys, Malcolm Burns Seawell was born in Chapel Hill, N.C.. He is an honors graduate of the American University in Washington, D. C., where he received degrees in Criminal Justice and Economics and was a leader of Phi Sigma Kappa. Upon graduation, Malcolm was inducted into Alpha Phi Sigma, the National Criminal Justice Honor Society.
Malcolm attended law school at the University of Denver where he received a Juris Doctor degree in 1991. During his course work at the University of Denver, Malcolm received American Jurisprudence awards in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Appellate Advocacy and Corporations. Based on outstanding scholarly achievements in the study of law at graduation, Malcolm was initiated into the Order of Saint Ives.
Malcolm was employed as a Deputy District Attorney in Colorado's Eighteenth Judicial District from July of 1989, through June of 1996. In July of 1996, he entered into private practice where he has limited his practice to criminal defense and personal injury. Malcolm is admitted to practice in both Colorado state and federal courts. He has tried in excess of 100 criminal trials, as a prosecutor and defense attorney. He is an assistant municipal judge for the towns of Parker and Castle Rock, Colo.
Malcolm has lectured as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business Administration in the area of jurisprudence. He has also frequently lectured in the areas of criminal law and criminal procedure.
