
Matt Sullivan is a graduate of the University of San Francisco Law School. He began his legal career working as a deputy public defender in the trial rotation at the Office of the Public Defender in Marin County. He then spent two years working for a private criminal defense firm in San Francisco on serious federal and state court matters, including drug conspiracy and sexual misconduct cases. Since opening his own office he has continued to focus on providing exceptional representation in all criminal matters. He has many years of experience defending complex criminal law matters, including violent crimes, sex crimes, white collar crimes, DUI cases, domestic violence offenses, and vehicular manslaughter cases. He regularly works with forensic experts in a wide variety of fields to seek to obtain the best result for his clients. Mr. Sullivan has represented lawyers, police officers, firefighters, teachers, nurses, tech professionals, and many regular citizens. He is a member of the NACDL and CACJ. He has been selected as a Super Lawyer in the practice area of criminal defense from 2018-2025. He has trained other lawyers on the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act (Cal. ECPA), and has extensively litigated discovery issues in an RJA matter resulting in a published Court of Appeal decision.
