I am privileged to be in a position to assist clients in their time of need. No matter how large or small the case may be, each of my clients will receive representation that brings to bear the best of my talents and experience.

Matt Focht is a trial lawyer in the firm's Personal Injury practice group. He helps individuals who have been seriously injured in avoidable accidents recover the compensation they deserve in litigation before state and federal courts throughout Maryland and the D.C. area. Matt has deep experience in managing a broad range of high-stakes personal injury matters on behalf of victims and surviving family members, including automobile accidents, wrongful death cases and a variety of other serious accidents caused by negligence. He also frequently protects his clients' interests beyond the trial court level by arguing contested decisions before Maryland's appellate courts.

Before joining the firm, Matt gained 10 years of valuable courtroom experience defending complex medical malpractice cases and learning first hand how defense lawyers and insurance companies evaluate and develop strategies for defeating negligence claims. This unique insight into the opposing side of personal injury litigation now enables him to better assess the strengths and weaknesses of a plaintiff's case, anticipate and overcome his opponent's numerous tactics and develop impactful strategies to achieve his client's desired outcome either through a favorable settlement or a jury verdict at trial.

Matt has earned a strong reputation among opposing lawyers and clients for his surgeon-like approach to resolving personal injury disputes based on his tireless work ethic and his commitment to solving clients' problems with unparalleled skill and precision during times of extreme crisis. He also understands the importance of being highly accessible to clients from beginning to end, exploring every available option throughout the litigation process and skillfully minimizing the downside of a case while maximizing its upside to the client's advantage.

Matt takes great pride in the leadership roles he assumes outside the office to strengthen his community. In 2013, he was honored to become a member of the inaugural class of the Bar Association of Montgomery County's Leadership Academy and assist in the creation of a truancy court program at Shady Grove Middle School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Matt also was honored to assist young attorneys as a participant in the Maryland Court of Appeals 2014-2015 Mentoring Program.

Matt also serves as a member of the Montgomery County Inn of Court, helping the organization to improve the skills and professionalism of legal professionals in Montgomery County.
