Matt attended the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada, then went on to tour the world with a platinum-selling and Grammy-nominated Canadian punk rock band. He then attended Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, quickly obtaining numerous academic awards and scholarships, eventually graduating number one in the school. He attended Trial Lawyers College in 2017.
Matt has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, KTLA, CBS News Los Angeles, and other media publications for his involvement in high-profile cases. Several of his verdicts have been featured in Jury Verdict Alert and VerdictSearch for being some of the top verdicts in California. Matt has been asked to speak at Southwestern Law School and UCLA due to his expertise, as well as at several legal conferences in California, Nevada, and Kentucky. He has written on complex legal issues in several publications including the Daily Journal.
