Merna Abusamen earned her law degree from the UIC John Marshall Law School in May 2020. Prior to joining Mossing & Navarre as an associate attorney, Merna was a law clerk with the firm and assisted with complex medical malpractice and personal injury matters.
Prior to joining Mossing & Navarre, Merna worked as a law clerk at a large defense firm in Chicago and has also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Virginia Kendall at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. While in law school, Merna was involved in a number of activities and organizations. In addition to serving as a member of the UIC John Marshall Law Review, Merna was also a member of her school’s nationally ranked Trial Advocacy & Dispute Resolution Honors Program, competing in four competitions and winning first place in the 1L ADR intra-squad competition. She also served on the board of the Middle Eastern Law Student Association and was a member of the Dean’s List. Merna also worked with the UIC John Marshall International Human Rights legal clinic where she translated Arabic for families seeking asylum. Merna is fluent in Arabic and conversationally fluent in Spanish.
